![]() ![]() Don't have time to test it now, maybe this weekend but it appears with the HD 5450's that you can get Hybrid CrossFire X with DTS-MA and Dolby TrueHD sound since it's out of the HD 5450 port which I'm releaved about, but makes me wonder how something like not noting the new HD 5450's with Hybrid CrossFire X has to use the port on the card and enabling Surround View got by the motherboard manufacterer (which is the opposite of what's in the manual), was it even tested by them?Įven kept my Catalyst OverDrive settings of 690MHz GPU and 900MHz (x2) memory overclocked setting for the HD 5450, so that works with Hybrid CrossFire X also. Selected the option in the Catalyst screen and hit OK, now Hybrid CrossFire X is enabled and working. Once I switched the HDMI cable to the video card HDMI port I went into the bios and switched the Surround View to Enabled and the Initial Display was already defaulted to PEG (grayed out so you can't select any other), saved the bios and it rebooted, loaded windows and automatically detected the CrossFire capable card. This morning I unplugged the HD 5450 in to the 890GX board, plugged it back into the PCIe x16 slot and the video defaulted out the video card port from the onboard port. ![]() The MSI manual doesn't seem to indicate which port you connect the monitor to, seems to imply either way and you select in CCC which one. Would be a little disappointed if this only works with the ASRock board because I really like the S/PDIF input/output on the Gigabyte board, the ASRock only has the output. Would be great to have a HD 5570 + Hybrid CrossFire X that does bitstreaming. I'll probably try out the HD 5570 to see. I've read on most that the HD 5450 is the only HD 5xxx card compatible with Hybrid CrossFire X, but recently found a reference to HD 54xx/55xx might be since they are all Cedar based GPU's (but other references state the HD 55xx is a Redwood which is based on the HD 56xx GPU). Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H (890GX) manual states to enable Hybrid CrossFire X you need to disable the Surround View, set the UMA Frame Size Buffer to 256MB, initial display is set to OnChip VGA and connect the monitor to the video OnBoard port.įor the ASRock 890GM Extreme3 (890GX) the manual states you connect to the port on the video card and enabled Surround View.īoth of these should give DirectX 11 (up from the onboard DirectX 10.1), but since the ASRock board has you connect through the video card, I wonder if you can then get bitstreaming WITH Hybrid CrossFire X which would be great. I can tell you ATI's Hybrid CrossFire X is complicated. And since they can be Hybrid CrossFire X then why not take advantage.įirst thing I found odd was that I wasn't able to find if you hook up the display to the video card or the video port on the motherboard to get the full HDMI surround and DirectX 11 (plus about 20% boost in performance as per the reviews)? EDIT: Found it in motherboard manual, connect to the port on the MOTHERBOARD.Īlso, is there anything (problems) I should be aware of or keep in mind when setting up the system? Wanted to get full surround over HDMI (HD 4290 is only 2 channel over HDMI and DirectX 10.1) and have access to DirectX 11, that's what the video card will add. 2.0, bios FB) motherboard and the Gigabyte HD 5450 1GB (fanless) video card. I"ve already got the video card and want to get it working like ATI advertises. Not looking for people who haven't worked with it and are going to say "Just pay a little extra and get a HD 5670" or something similar or those that say go Intel.
